What does an industrial refrigeration system actually do?
It removes heat from a room, a process or a product and moves that heat elsewhere. A compressor circulates refrigerant between an evaporator inside the cold space and a condenser outside it, so the room holds its set temperature as weather, door traffic and product load change.
Why are PIR panels essential for cold storage?
PIR panels carry the insulation value, fire performance and hygiene of the whole room. Their closed-cell core reaches −18°C with a thinner wall, will not absorb moisture, and their cam-lock joints stay airtight under daily thermal cycling.
How often should an industrial cold room be serviced?
Every three months. Quarterly visits catch refrigerant leaks, blocked condensers, worn gaskets and failing fan motors before they cause a temperature excursion, and they keep statutory F-Gas leak tests on schedule.
What temperature should a cold room hold?
Chiller rooms run +2°C to +8°C, freezer rooms hold −18°C or below, and blast chillers pull hot product to +3°C within 90 minutes. Pharmaceutical storage needs tighter bands plus continuous monitoring and alarms.
What should a business do if a walk-in freezer stops cooling?
Protect the stock first: move it to another cold store and keep the door shut between transfers. Check the controller for an alarm code and the isolator for a trip, then call us with the model, alarm code and current temperature. Do not keep resetting the controller — that turns a cheap repair into a compressor failure.
